Oak Hills Double Gable Rummer Built Home
One of the most popular of the models that Bob Rummer built, this "double gable" is located on a quiet cul de sac. The high double gables provide plenty of drama and volume. The house wraps around the large open atrium that daylights the interior, provides cross ventilation and serves as a peaceful enclosed outdoor living area. The plan and the atrium make this an impressive example of the indoor/outdoor quality that came to be a defining element of good mid-century modernism. The floor plan provides nice zoning for living with the master (consisting of bedroom, walk-in closet, bathroom and private "retreat") in one wing of the house, the public areas of living, dining kitchen and "multi-purpose" room along the backyard area of the house and the bedrooms and another bath occupy the other wing of the house. There is also a large carport area at the front along with a large two car garage. This model often has four bedrooms plus the retreat off of the master. In this instance two of the bedrooms have been combined to form one larger room.
The house has been thoroughly upgraded by the sellers who are moving because of a job change to another city. The work done updates the house and provides contemporary ammenities and significantly enhanced livability while maintaining the integrity of the original design.
