$375,000

circa 1953 by Architect James Jamison

This is one of only a handful of very good modern homes done by architect James Jamison in the early fifties. This house has vaulted ceilings with exposed large wooden beams supporting the 2X dimensioned lumber stood on edge and spanning beam to beam. This roof system had been used numerous times by architect Van Evera Bailey in the Portland area. The front wall of the living room is floor to ceiling glass. Jamison used a lot of glass in the house; the two original glass sliding doors to the back yard are very large. The architect used fix pane windows in the bedrooms with ventilators built into the walls under the windows. This is another system that Van Evera Bailey used extensively. It is interesting that there are two opening ventilator doors beneath each window in the master, making for a large area that opens for fresh air.

The home is heated by an in-floor (concrete slab) radiant hot water system using a gas fired boiler. One of the bedrooms has the original cork floor; the remainder of the house has new vct tile throughout providing a nice continuity and flow to the floor plan. The kitchen has been completely redone with light colored wood cabinets and stainless appliances, a look that is very complimentary to the original design of the house. New lighting has been added throughout.

Built as a two bedroom one bathroom house with a carport, a later addition finished the carport and made it into a third bedroom with another full bath. This is a large room with nice high ceilings and is currently being used as an office/artist studio. A pre-fabricated sun room was also added which opens onto the covered patio/deck.
